You have until April 13 to drink in the sugarbush maple syrup fest in York Region because our super chilly temperatures have slowed the sap from running and Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) has extended the event for an extra week.

"This has been a difficult winter," TRCA education supervisor Adrian O'Driscoll said. "At the beginning of the festival, the sap has been slow to run because the daytime temperatures have been too cold."

Daytime temps need to hit above 4 Celsius for the sap to run, while nighttime temperatures need to remain below freezing, he added. "Hopefully, if Mother Nature co-operates, we'll start seeing the sap flow more steadily with milder temperatures just around the corner." The festival runs until Sunday, April 13 at two locations in York Region; the Kortright Centre for Conservation in Vaughan and Bruce's Mill Conservation Area in Stouffville.

The cost is $10 for adults and $6.50 for kids, students and seniors. Children four and under are admitted free with their family and conservation parks members are free. Parking is $4 per vehicle at Kortright Conservation Centre and free at Bruce's Mill.

Kortright Centre for Conservation is open daily, 9550 Pine Valley Dr.

Bruce's Mill Conservation Area is open Wednesday to Sunday, 3291 Stouffville Rd.
