Markham boulevard patio policy revised
NRU
March 26, 2014
A report by City of Markham staff to the March 25 council meeting recommends amendment of the current boulevard patio policy to improve public safety near outdoor patios for pedestrians and drivers. The purpose of the report is to revise the design guidelines and amend the road occupancy by-law for patios located either at the front of businesses or that encroach on public sidewalks. Staff recommend the addition of bolted-down fence structures to increase safety for patio users and pedestrians and to permit outdoor patios use from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. instead of until 11 p.m.
