York Region restaurants hit with violations

Public health inspectors laid charges under the provincial Health Protection and Promotion Act at a pair of York Region establishments last week.

Sicilia Bakery on Four Valley Drive in Vaughan was ticketed for two offences, failing to remove wastes when necessary to maintain sanitary condition and operating with the equipment not arranged to permit maintenance in sanitary condition, by inspectors with the region’s community and health services health protection division. The bakery was cited March 18.

Also charged last week was Aw Shucks Seafood Bar and Bistro on Yonge Street in Aurora. Inspectors ticketed Aw Shucks on March 20 for failing to keep its facility sanitary.

The food premises disclosure system provides the public access to information relating to charges laid and closures made by York Region community and health services public health inspectors.
