York Region residents fall just short on Recipe to Riches

The Recipe to Riches story has come to an end for two York Region residents.

Newmarket's Sean Young was runner-up on last night's episode of the CBC television show.

Markham's Karen Ahmed finished in third place.

Riches invites Canadian home cooks to create and share original recipes.

Each episode features a different food category — Wednesday's episode was all about appetizers — with home cooks competing for a weekly $25,000 prize.

Each category winner's recipe becomes available that weekend across the country as a President's Choice product.

Mr. Young created Oh My Cod Cakes, a bite-sized cod and potato baked treat.

Ms Ahmed showcased the Bollypop, a coated, creamy potato with a surprise chutney in the middle.

British Columbia's Elisa Hendricks won the episode, thanks to her Italian Lollipops. She moves on to compete for the $250,000 grand prize in the series finale.
