Don't put away those winter jackets and shovels just yet.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Toronto and parts of the GTA ahead of possible wintery weather set to sweep through the region on the second day of spring.

The low pressure system set to arrive from the Prairies Friday night could bring snow, rain and likely some freezing rain to southern Ontario.

The statement includes:

Toronto
Vaughan
Richmond Hill
Newmarket
Markham
Halton
Peel

According to Environment Canada, the snow is set to begin falling late Friday evening with a risk of freezing rain in the evening and after midnight.

The mercury is expected to hit a high of 6 C during the day Friday, dipping down to a low of zero in the evening.

Forecasters say significant snowfall is possible outside the GTA, from Grey-Bruce through the Kawarthas to Kingston and Brockville. The weather agency expects 5 to 10 cm of snow to fall in that region.
