Inspectors with the Region of York’s community and health services health protection division laid charges under the provincial Health Protection and Promotion Act at four area eateries last week.
The list of restaurants charged included a pair of Markham establishments. Pixel 8 Lounge on Bur Oak Avenue was issued a ticket on March 11 for failing to keep the ceiling in its food-handling room clean, while Pizza 786 on Middlefield Road was cited March 12 for maintaining a food premise in a manner adversely affecting a sanitary condition.
Elsewhere, Tandoori Village on Hwy. 27 in Vaughan was written up March 12 for operating in a manner adversely affecting sanitary condition and the Wimpy’s Diner on Yonge Street in Aurora was ticketed for failing to ensure equipment surface was washed as necessary on March 14. Wimpy’s was also charged for operating with its mechanical equipment not maintained to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse.
The food premises disclosure system provides the public access to information relating to charges laid and closures made by York Region community and health services public health inspectors.
