After a three-week break between meetings, including a week off for March break, King Township Council gets back to business tonight with a meeting at 6 p.m. at Township Hall in King City, 2750 King Rd.
The agenda should include discussion on the $2.5-million reconstruction of Dufferin Bridge to be built in Ansnorveldt, which will require a closure of Dufferin Street starting Wednesday at King Street in the village.
The closure will require motorists heading north or south on Dufferin to detour over the spring and summer. The target date to reopen Dufferin Street at King Street is fall 2014.
Ward 6 Councillor Avia Eek said she is hopeful for an end of September date, but cautions that fall 2014 could mean later than September.
Some $1.8 million of the funding for the bridge is being provided from upper levels of government through provincial infrastructure money, with the balance to be paid by the Township.
Also up for discussion this evening will be the beautification awards for the downtowns of King City, Nobleton and Schomberg, as well as standardization of snowplows in King Township.
