Julian Fantino, Member of Parliament for Vaughan and Canada’s Minister of Veteran Affairs has launched a series of Budget 2014 consultations with local business, community and non-profit stakeholders and residents on their ideas and suggestions to support continued economic growth, for this year’s federal budget.
“Our Conservative Government knows that the number one priority for Vaughan families and seniors remains keeping taxes low and strengthening the local economy,” said Minister Fantino. “But we all know that Canada is faced with continued economic uncertainty from beyond our borders. That is why we will continue with our low-tax, pro-trade plan to create quality jobs and improve the quality of life for generations to come.”
The Economic Action Plan is keeping Vaughan and Canada on the right track, with over one million net new jobs since the end of the global recession – the best growth record among all G-7 countries. Minister Fantino and the Harper Government has invested significantly in local infrastructure – bolstering the local economy, improving the quality of life of families and providing additional services that meet the needs of our aging population.
Minister Fantino announced that like past years, the Harper Government has been consulting with Canadians from across the country to find the best ways to strengthen Canada’s economy. In Vaughan, Minister Fantino will meet with local business, community and non-profit leaders to discuss priorities in a pre-budget roundtables. In addition, the Minister has consulted widely with various residents on low-cost ideas that can help keep the economy strong.
“Many of the ideas brought forward in local pre-budget consultations have been raised directly with Finance Minister Flaherty and Prime Minister Harper. That is why I encourage everyone to participate, as your voice will be heard,” concluded Minister Fantino.
Budget 2014 will focus on job creation, promoting economic growth, and securing Canada’s long-term prosperity – all while returning to balanced budgets in 2015. To this end, the Harper Government also welcomes suggestions on how it can further improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary spending and modernize government.
Vaughan residents are reminded that they can provide their input online, as the federal government has launched a pre-budget consultation through the federal Finance Department website. All those interested in participating can find more information at www.JulianFantino.ca
