Some new heroes were welcomed to the Vaughan Fire & Rescue team as 30 new firefighters graduated to the service at a ceremony on January 15th. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council, Fire Chief Larry Bentley, Interim City Manager Barbara Cribbett, along with friends and family members, showed their support and gratitude to the graduates both with their attendance and through their words and actions at various points throughout the event.

“These new firefighters are beginning an exciting career of public service,” said fire Chief Bentley. “As firefighters, we are there for the community every day and respond to emergencies around the clock. It is our role to serve the people of Vaughan and provide a safe and secure community.”

The 30 new recruits persevered through the 14-week Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service Recruit Training Program to become a part of an incredible group of men and women here in this community. A few of the current members of the Vaughan Fire & Rescue team also received promotions during the ceremony, and while the recruits received their certificates, newly appointed officers were given their designated helmets. Congratulations to all on their hard work and achievements!
