Community-owned energy company PowerStream today announced that Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua has been appointed chairperson of its board of directors.
Mr. Bevilacqua has served for the past three years as board vice-chairperson. Members of the board include representation from the company’s three municipal shareholders, including Barrie, Markham and Vaughan.
Markham Mayor and outgoing board chairperson Frank Scarpitti will assume the vice-chairperson position after serving as chairperson for three years.
Other member on PowerStream’s board of directors include Barrie Mayor Jeff Lehman, Barrie Councillor Lynn Strachan, Vaughan Regional councillors Michael Di Biase, Gino Rosati and Deb Schulte, Vaughan councillors Tony Carella and Alan Shefman, Markham Regional Councillor Jim Jones, Markham Councillor Alex Chiu, as well as Ron Stevens and Dan Horchik.
PowerStream serves more than 365,000 customers in 15 York Region and Simcoe County communities.
Board members each receive a yearly stipend of $14,000. The chairperson receives a stipend of $18,000 per year.
