The one and only scheduled all-candidates debate in the Thornhill byelection is coming up this Thursday and you’ll have a chance to see four of the hopefuls on the ballot vying for your votes in action.

Set for 7 p.m. in Thornhill, the debate takes place exactly one week before the Feb. 13 election to fill the seat vacated when Progressive Conservative MPP Peter Shurman stepped down at the end of December, leaving vacant a seat he has represented since first being elected in 2007.

Attempting to replace him and scheduled to attend the debate are New Democratic Party candidate Cindy Hackelberg, Progressive Conservative candidate Gila Martow, Teresa Pun of the Green Party and Liberal Sandra Yeung Racco.

The debate is scheduled to run until 9 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. at Le Parc Conference and Banquet Hall at 8432 Leslie St., at the southwest corner of Leslie and Hwy. 7.

The debate is being hosted by Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) South Central Ontario. Alan Carter, Queen’s Park Bureau Chief and Focus Ontario Host for Global TV will be the moderator.

The two-hour-long debate will focus on transportation and infrastructure, health care and education, as well as feature questions from the public.
