St. Margaret Mary Church Dinner and Dance
St. Margaret Mary Church will be hosting its annual Dinner and Dance Gala on March 1 at DaVinci Banquet Hall, located at 5732 Highway 7 West in Woodbridge.

Red carpet arrival and cocktail reception is at 6 p.m.

The event promises to be an unforgettable evening and a celebration of community spirit with great entertainment and cuisine with family and friends in support of an amazing cause.

Earth Hour Vaughan
The seventh annual Earth Hour Vaughan celebration will be held on Saturday March 29, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Vaughan City Hall, located at 2141 Major Mackenzie Drive.

This fun-filled evening will be a night of collective action for energy conservation and will feature a professional energy conservation exhibit, lantern-making, a secondary school environmental Jeopardy game, an outdoor lantern walk, cycling night ride, entertainment acts, refreshments, prizes and much more.

Green Heroes
Earth Hour Vaughan is searching for green heroes: young, adult and families to recognize at the annual Earth Hour Vaughan event on March 29. Do you know of a person or family who takes care to save energy, water and waste very little?  Someone who practices reduce, re-use, recycle?  For instance, a student who turns out lights, brings reusable lunch containers, walks to school? A homeowner who has had the energy retrofit done on their home?  Installed energy efficient lighting? Installed solar panels?  Purchased an energy efficient furnace or water heater? Walks or takes transit, etc?

If so, you can nominate them to be an Earth Hour Vaughan 2014 Green Hero before March 22. Winners will be recognized and awarded a prize at the March 29 Earth Hour Vaughan event held in the evening at Vaughan City Hall.

Bus Trip to Casino Niagara
The Woodbridge Legion is once again hosting a trip to Niagara Falls, but this time we are going to the old casino, Casino Niagara. The trip will take place on Wednesday, March 12. The bus departs from the Legion at 9 a.m.. The Woodbridge Legion is located at 60 Legion Court Road in Woodbridge. The cost for the trip is $5. For more information call 905-851-0032.

 

Olive Branch For Children Fundraising Gala 
The ninth annual Olive Branch for Children Fundraising Dinner will take place Friday, Feb. 28. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will start at 7:30 p.m.

The event will take place at Bellevue Manor located at 8083 Jane St. in Vaughan.

The cost is $125 per person and a tax receipt for $65 will be issued for each ticket purchased.

Bring your family and friends for this wonderful evening which includes a five-course dinner, open bar, a silent auction, entertainment and dancing.

Deborah McCracken-Nangereke will highlight the charity’s goals and talk about the major undertakings, challenges and successes of The Olive Branch for Children over the past year in the Mbeya region of Tanzania.

Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous
Are you having trouble controlling the way you eat? You are not alone. Today, there is a solution.

Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous holds weekly meetings every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Woodbridge Pool and Memorial Arena, located at 5020 Highway 7 at the north west corner of Highway 7 and Islington Avenue.

There are no dues, no fees and no weigh-ins.

French Toastmasters
French Toastmasters club in Richmond Hill for fluent French speaking people. Meetings are on first and third Thursdays of the month, from 7:30 to 9 p.m..

The meeting will take place at the Richmond Hill Retirement Residence, located at 70 Bernard Ave. in Richmond Hill.

Bowl for Kids Sake
The A&B Courier Bowl for Kids Sake will take place on March 2 at the Woodbridge Bowl from 1 to 3 p.m. The Woodbridge Bowl is located at 191 Marycroft Ave.

Those who want to participate are asked to organize a team of five or six colleagues, friends and/or family and register online. Reach out to family and friends to collect pledges. Come out and bowl for two hours and join the fun.

Please contact the Big Brothers Big Sisters of York office to reserve a bowling lane for your team.

Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $100.
