The doors to Home Depot Canada's first national rapid deployment centre in Vaughan are now open. And with it, come the addition of an estimated 400 jobs.

The 657,600-sq.-ft. facility, which will service about 123 stores from Winnipeg to St. John’s, NL,  features more than two kilometres of conveyor belts where cartons from suppliers are received, sorted and distributed to Home Depot Canada stores each week.

“This site is part of The Home Depot Canada’s ongoing changes to benefit its supply chain,” said Serge Carestia, The Home Depot Canada's vice-president of supply chain. “The rapid deployment centre will help us deliver the right amount of stock to ensure we help customers by having the products they need available for their projects.”

In celebration of the facility's grand opening, The Home Depot donated $5,000 to Vaughan's 360° Kids in support of its Home Base Vaughan program.

Home Base helps Improve the lives of at-risk and homeless youth, while 360° Kids offers a wide range of programs and services such as housing support for youth, positive mentorship and employment opportunities to help keep youth off the street and focused on productive lifestyles.
