What do you think of the 2.5-per cent tax increase passed last night by Vaughan council? We want to include your comments and views in today's story on the issue.
The marginal hike works out to an additional $31 per year or $2.58 per month on the average residential property in Vaughan assessed at $551,000.
What you will get for your tax dollars are such things as street and walkway lighting improvements, additional firefighters at Station 7-5 in Woodbridge, a new library at city hall and capital projects such as road repairs and watermain replacement.
The city actually receives just less than 30 per cent of your overall residential property tax bill, with the remainder going to Queen's Park for education and York Region.
Services that Vaughan handles includes fire and rescue, snow removal, waste collection and recreation programs, among others.
