A total of 370 young people entered the Ontario government’s 11th annual Kids’ Fish Art Contest.

Thornhill resident Faith Chiu won in the grade 4 to 6 category.

She earned a complete set of fishing gear donated by Lucky Strike Bait Works, as well as classroom supplies for her drawing promoting the importance of fish and their habitat.

The contest is open to Ontario students in grades 4 to 12.

The largemouth bass, featured in this year’s drawings, range from southern Ontario through the lower Great Lakes, with some populations in northwestern Ontario.

This year’s winners were announced at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show.

Each of the winners will have their art featured on three different versions of the 2014 Young Angler’s Licence, a free fishing licence for youth under the age of 18.

Each winner received classroom supplies donated by Staedtler-Mars and fishing gear from Lucky Strike. The overall winner receives a four-day fishing excursion provided by Pine Portage Lodge and a day of fishing with Canadian Sportfishing television show host Italo Labignan.
