Vaughan is donating a fire vehicle to the Town of East Gwillimbury to help with emergency response there following a recent fire that destroyed six of the town's emergency vehicles.

Vaughan council today ratified an agreement to lease East Gwillimbury a pumper truck for two years at a nominal rate. The truck is urgently needed by the East Gwillimbury Emergency Services in the wake of the Feb. 2 fire at one of its stations.

East Gwillimbury's fire chief requested assistance from regional fire departments through the York Regional mutual aid plan for the loan of the equipment needed to operate a fire station. This mutual aid arrangement supports Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service’s ability to sustain its operations under similar circumstances.
