If you’ve been meaning to attend a city council meeting, but just can’t spare the time to travel all the way to city hall, there’s some news you’ll be happy to hear.

The city is providing live video streaming of council and committee meetings held in the council chamber starting Feb. 18.

The broadcasts can be streamed during meetings from the city’s website, vaughan.ca.

Videos of meetings will be archived and available through the website at a later date.

“The City of Vaughan is committed to making government accessible to everyone and we are very pleased to be able to now offer video streaming of our council and committee meetings held in the council chamber,” Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua said in a news release. “The live broadcasts will allow our residents and anyone who is interested in following municipal affairs in Vaughan to become connected from the comfort of their homes.”

The new video broadcast replaces the current audio feed.

Audio streaming will continue for committee meetings held outside the council chamber.
