Keep active, have fun in Vaughan over holidays

There is plenty to do around Thornhill and other parts of Vaughan over the holidays:
- Holiday Happenings special day camp: Offered at Garnet A. Williams Community Centre for children aged four to 12. It includes arts and crafts, sports, swimming and more.
- Kool Holidays special needs day camp: Offered at Maple Community Centre for children 12 and up. Activities include swimming, cooking, arts and crafts, co-operative games and a visit to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
- Free skating: available at Al Palladini, Garnet A. Williams and Maple indoor arenas (sponsored by Tim Hortons), with free supervised skating available at Vaughan outdoor rinks.
- Youth rooms: Open for young people ages 10 to 17, and includes games, tables, video games and youth sports. Annual youth membership required.
- Vaughan fitness centres: Open to residents 14 years and older and includes many amenities - squash courts, running tracks and fitness classes. Pay-per-visit option is available for non-members.
- Vaughan Intramural Recreational Adult League (VIRAL): Free volleyball and dodge ball games for adults at Maple Community Centre.
- Other activities include: Swimming, aqua fitness, badminton, basketball, bocce, shinny hockey, bowling, youth open gym and adult and youth games rooms for a nominal fee, and free pickleball for families at Maple Community Centre.

Holiday activity schedules are available at city community centres and online at vaughan.ca/recreation. Check times and dates of preferred locations as facilities may vary in hours of operation.
All facilities are closed Dec. 25, 2014 and Jan. 1, 2015.
