7 York establishments cited for violations

Public health inspectors handed out tickets for violations of the province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act at seven York Region establishments last week.
The following violations were reported between Nov. 10 and 16:
- Fav Cafe, 31 - 280 West Beaver Creek Rd, Richmond Hill, was cited for failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration.
- Grand Fortune Food Mart, B1 - 4390 Steeles Ave. E., Markham, was ticketed for operating a food premises maintained in a manner permitting a health hazard.
- Happiness Chinese Seafood Restaurant, 1 - 4500 Steeles Ave. E., Markham, was charged because the operator failed to ensure the ceiling of a food handling room was kept in good repair.
- Hogan’s Inn Restaurant,12998 Keele St. S., King, was written up for failure to have test reagent available at place of sanitization and failing to ensure equipment surface was washed as necessary.
- Oak Ridges Retirement Community, 12925 Yonge St., Richmond Hill was charged when the operator failed to ensure a cracked dish was not used in food handling and for storing utensils in a manner not preventing contamination.
- Ruby Thai Kitchen, FC01 - 17600 Yonge St., Newmarket, was cited for operate a food premise maintained in a manner adversely affecting sanitary conditions.
- Suvaka Asian Mediterranean, 14 - 9909 Markham Rd., Markham was ticketed for failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration.
The food premises disclosure system provides the public access to information relating to charges laid and closures made by York Region community and health services public health inspectors.
