Three community champions were honoured last week by the Character Community Foundation of York Region at a luncheon at the Angus Glen Golf and Country Club in Markham.
The main goal of the foundation is to “engage organizations in positive character development”.
The honourees, who were the foundation’s first group to be recognized for 2014, were Bob Kilgour and Cardinal Golf Club, Brian Bentz and PowerStream Inc. and Leo McArthur and The Miller Group.
The honourees were selected on the basis of having been significantly involved in the development and expansion of positive character within York Region.
All honourees have implemented the foundation’s initiatives into their personal business and have been true Community Champions by promoting the work of the Character Community Foundation.
Keynote speaker at the event was Marc Neeb, executive vice-president and chief human resources officer at Magna International Inc.
Neeb delivered a presentation on traits of successful leaders.
These included professionalism, good decision-making, humility, credibility, effective communication skills, interpersonal savviness, personal commitment, ability to inspire commitment, maintaining a positive attitude, being a team player and having a good sense of humour.
Media sponsor for the event was Metroland Media.
