Fall/Winter 2014
In July, Mackenzie Health was pleased to participate with members of local and provincial governments in a ceremony marking the beginning of early work on the property that will include the future Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital at Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive in Vaughan.
Early work by the City of Vaughan includes the construction of roads, stormwater, water and wastewater servicing for the entire site.
All required infrastructure construction will be completed by September 2015 in preparation for the start of construction on the new hospital.
“We are excited that the city has started the early work that will help prepare the lands for construction of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital,” says Dina Palozzi, Chair of Mackenzie Health’s Board of Directors.
“The project is advancing step by step. This site preparation positions us well to issue a request for proposals (RFP) later this year. That would be the first step toward actual construction of the new hospital.”
The three top qualified bidders that are eligible to respond to the RFP were recently announced, including: Plenary Health, Mackenzie Vaughan Health Partnership and Hospital Infrastructure Partners.
“Mackenzie Health Foundation, our Board, Campaign Cabinet and most importantly our donors are extremely pleased to see the start of the early work to prepare the site for the construction of the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital,” adds Glenn Beaumont, chair of Mackenzie Health Foundation. “We look forward to continued progress in bringing expanded healthcare services close to home for the people of Vaughan.”
