York Region libraries collaborating to support area newcomers

Nine York Region libraries are teaming up to help area newcomers in the weeks ahead.

The Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, Georgina, King, Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitchurch-Stouffville libraries have partnered to offer programs and services to newcomers during Ontario Public Library Week, which runs Oct. 19 to 25. Staff will share best practices, resources and tools to support newcomers.

Plans include a Meet Your Citizenship Judge event, volunteering workshops, library open houses, community information displays, on-site settlement services and outreach programs.
