There will be a few new faces around the regional council table for the upcoming term.

Margaret Jordan Quirk, the new mayor-elect of Georgina, will replace five-term mayor Robert Grossi. She joins longtime regional councillor Danny Wheeler for Georgina’s two votes at the region.

In Whitchurch-Stouffville, Mayor Wayne Emmerson did not run for re-election and plans, instead, to seek the appointed regional chairperson position. He has been lobbying support for one year.

Justin Altmann will take Emmerson’s seat for Stouffville’s one regional vote on issues.

Markham regional councillor Gordon Landon retired and will be replaced by newly elected Nirmala Armstrong.

In Vaughan, Mario Ferri came in second in the race for the three regional councillor seats/votes, while incumbent Deb Schulte came in fourth and will not return for this term.

The inaugural council meeting is Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the council chamber.
