Portraits of Giving enters York Region Administrative Centre in Newmarket

The York Region Administrative Centre’s great hall is the current stop on the Portraits of Giving tour.

Merk Photography’s fifth annual travelling exhibit, which has stops across the region, will set up in the centre at 17250 Yonge St., Newmarket, until Oct. 10.

This year, 10 people have been honoured for their contributions to the York community through the exhibit, including Newmarket’s Robert Horst, Jackie Playter and Maria Racco, Aurora’s Tim Jones and Marc Neeb, Richmond Hill’s Corrine Griffiths and Marj Andre, Georgina’s Jennifer Anderson, Vaughan’s John Amendola and Markham’s Royson Ng.

Portraits is organized by photographer Karen Merk and writer Melony Teague.

About $10,600 in proceeds from Portraits was donated to the Character Community Foundation of York Region.

The exhibit will be at Vaughan City Hall Oct. 13 to 23 and Markham Civic Centre Nov. 3 to 14.
