The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Member of Parliament for Vaughan, today joined local Veterans and the community to honour Canada’s brave men and women at the annual Beechwood Cemetery Remembrance Day Service.
At today’s ceremony, the Minister laid a wreath on behalf of the Government of Canada and highlighted the importance of remembering and honouring Veterans this Remembrance Day. To mark the occasion, a Canadian flag was placed on the gravesites of the more than 2,000 Veterans buried at the cemetery.
The Minister also paid tribute to Canadian Armed Forces members, Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo, who were recently the targets of fatal terror attacks in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario.
