Vaughan Moon Festival Celebration

Snapd Vaughan East and Snapd Woodbridge
October 2014

A full moon always signifies friends and family coming together in China. The Vaughan Moon Festival Celebration was the first of its kind in Vaughan and saw many people from the community coming out to celebrate. Vaughan's City Hall was transformed into a striking display of Chinese culture with beautiful red lanterns hung from the ceiling.

Admission was free for anyone interested in dropping by which included several exciting activities for all ages. The programs for the day included everything from Kids and Lanterns, Moon Festival Legends, Programs from the community, Singing Performances, Chinese Dances, Chinese Opera singing, Chinese Music Instruments and Riddles and Games.

The festive food included many delicious delights including moon cake, traditional Chinese tea and festive fruits. There were many special appearances that evening which included Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco, staff from Mackenzie Health Foundation and Richmond Hill Chinese Baptist Church. The winners of the art competition were also being honoured at this year’s special event.

There were several awe-inspiring performances that day like traditional Chinese dances and line dancing. Everyone was encouraged to join in on the fun and dance the night away. The Vaughan Moon Festival Celebration was certainly one of a kind and we are excited to find out what is in store for next year!
