Too busy to cast a ballot on Election Day?

Then the Town of Newmarket has a few options for ensuring your voice is heard in October's municipal election. Though Election Day is Oct. 27, there are quite a few advance polling options coming up. The Newmarket Community Centre and Lions Hall, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., will host polls Oct. 11 and 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (100 Eagle St. W.) and Magna Centre (800 Mulock Dr.) will host advance polls on Oct. 11, 12, 18 and 19 from 12 to 4 p.m., and Oct. 20, 21 and 23 from 4 to 8 p.m.

To vote in Newmarket, you must be a Canadian citizen who is at least 18 years old and a resident of the town. A non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality, or their spouse, can also cast a ballot.

Residents will have the opportunity to vote for regional and ward councillors, mayoral and school board trustee candidates.

The town's 2014 Election team is also available to answer questions.
