The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association raised $60,000 last month to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
The money will be donated to international aid organization Humanity First.
The Vaughan-headquartered Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association was gearing up for its annual food drive when the devastating tropical storm slammed the Philippines Nov. 8.
That prompted the association to change things up and launch a fundraising campaign to support international relief efforts instead, according to association spokesperson Ahmed Sahi.
About 3,000 youth across Canada took part in the fundraising campaign, going door-to-door and working the phones throughout December to drum up donations.
