Come out, come out wherever you are.

That’s right all you budding Beyonces and Biebers out there, Hidden Talent Toronto, the local competition for amateur singers of all ages, is back for a fifth season.

The initial open audition gets under way starting at 7 p.m. Jan. 24 at The Sound Rehearsal Studios, 219 Connie Cres., unit 8, in Vaughan.

“We’ve heard a lot of different talent - every genre, every culture. Everyone you can possibly think of has come out and tried,” said Vaughan singer/songwriter Laura Cavacece, who founded the non-profit event two years ago. “This time around, we’re going to be very, very specific in choosing who advances to the next round. ... Someone who shows they’re serious about working in the music industry, that’s what we’re looking for as opposed to someone who just sings in the shower.”

Ms Cavacece, along with James Nickle and Laura Corsi, serve as judges for the competition.

Those who make it through the open audition to the first preliminary round will square off against about 50 others in front of a live audience Jan. 31 at a theatre in Etobicoke.

That number will be whittled down to about two dozen semi-finalists through the preliminary rounds. The top 12 move on to the finals.

The winner walks away with a recording package from a “premiere” Toronto recording studio while the top three take home a trophy.
