Trudeau boosts provincial candidate in Thornhill

Federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau wades through a throng of media and supporters Thursday during a visit to Thornhill, where a provincial byelection has been called for Feb. 13. With Mr. Trudeau in the red blazer is Liberal candidate Sandra Yeung Racco, a Vaughan city councillor.

 

Federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau paid a visit to Thornhill this afternoon, giving a boost to a fellow Liberal seeking a seat at the provincial level.

Mr. Trudeau attended a meeting of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Seniors Club a the Duffferin Clark Community Centre.

He later visited Liberal candidate Sandra Yeung Racco's campaign office on Disera Drive as the Vaughan city councillor gears up for a Feb. 13 provincial byelection to replace Conservative MPP Peter Shurman, who recently announced his retirement.

The Progressive Conservative party will hold its nomination meeting later tonight, where it is expected community activist and former city council candidate Gila Martow, a former local Conservative riding association president, will get the nod over autism activist Bruce McIntosh.

A byelection will also be held in Niagara Falls.
