Harper sets 72.5% home ownership target

Conservative leader Stephen Harper took his campaign trail to a housing development in Vaughan today, and announced the Tories’ goal for home ownership.

“I’m pleased to announce that adding more than 700,000 new homeowners by the year 2020 will be a target of a re-elected Conservative government.”

“Achieving this target will raise Canada’s rate of home ownership to 72.5 per cent and getting there will mean tens of thousands of new jobs associated with residential construction in communities from coast to coast.”

Harper says a combination of previous tax breaks and new promises makes the target number a realistic goal.
