Bobby Batth doesn’t know who tore down the signs on his property showing his support for Liberal candidate Gagan Sikand.

But, he’s not going to let the incident stop him from continuing to show support for the party and the candidate.

Batth, who describes himself as a Liberal supporter but isn’t a part of Sikand’s campaign, said he woke up Monday morning (Aug. 31) to see that two of the several signs he has on the lawn at his home in the Innisdale Road and Tenth Line West area had been torn down and destroyed.

While he doesn’t know why they were damaged, he did say that he saw some other Liberal signs in the neighbourhood that had been destroyed while signs promoting candidates from other political parties didn’t suffer the same fate.

“I just find it troubling that people went to the extreme of going to my house to demolish the signs,” said Batth. “I have the right to show my support. I shouldn’t have to defend my property.”

Batth said he filed a report online with Peel Regional Police about the signs. He added he plans on allowing more signs - two are still up at his home - to be placed on his property as he will not be cowed by vandals.
