Ex-councillor hosting Markham-Stouffville election debate

Phil Bannon is hosting a federal election debate for the Markham-Stouffville riding on Sept. 23.
The debate takes place in the Ballantrae Golf and Country Club’s recreation centre, which is located off Hwy. 48, just north of Aurora Road.
A meet and greet with the candidates starts at 6:15 p.m.
The debate runs from 7 to 9 p.m.
Candidates include incumbent Paul Calandra (Conservative), Dr. Jane Philpott (Liberal), Gregory Hines (NDP) and Myles O’Brien (Green).
Bannon will be the moderator.
The former Ward 2 councillor was a 2014 mayoral candidate, losing to Justin Altmann. He was also the Oak Ridges-Markham Conservative candidate in the 2007 provincial election. He lost to Liberal Helena Jaczek.
