Golfers came together for a round of golf at one of the City’s best courses recently to raise thousands of dollars for not-for-profit and community organizations. A sold-out field hit the links at the Eagles Nest Golf Club for the Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Classic on July 7.

The proceeds from this annual event and the Mayor’s Gala go to support the more than 100 community groups that provide essential services to the people of Vaughan. Embodying a spirit of generosity, businesses that support this event have helped organizations that serve youth, seniors, people with special needs, women’s centers, special education schools and sports groups.

A highlight of this year’s event was the helicopter ball drop on the 18th hole. Numbered golf balls, purchased by the golfers, were dropped from a helicopter onto the fairway with the closest to the pin declared the winner.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in this year’s golf tournament. Year after year this event is supported by our incredible community so that we can continue to help people who need it most. The organizations that benefit from the funds raised through this event are truly the heartbeat our City and by working together, we will continue to move forward without leaving anyone behind. I want to extend my thanks as well to PowerStream President and CEO Brian Bentz and for once again lending his leadership and commitment to the role of tournament chair, ”said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.
