The majority of Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area municipalities posted commercial and industrial property tax rate decreases in 2015, when compared to 2014 rates.

While Barrie was the only municipality to increase its rates, the difference was minor, with commercial rates increasing by less than 0.01 per cent and industrial by around 0.02 per cent.

Markham continues to have the lowest overall business rates in the region, while Hamilton continues to have the highest.

Overall the rates changes between 2014 and 2015 were minimal, with commercial rates dropping, on average, about 0.05 per cent and industrial about 0.06 per cent. As Toronto seeks to bridge the gap between its business and residential tax rates, it recorded the largest decreases-commercial rates dropped by 0.13 per cent and industrial by 0.11 per cent.
