An eight-month-old baby was accidentally locked up inside a Jeep in Vaughan Thursday morning, causing a mother to call police in a panic.
York Regional Police say the baby’s sibling accidentally locked the doors of the vehicle before the mother could retrieve her youngest child. She immediately called police from the parking lot of 8100 Highway 27, outside a Goodlife fitness facility.
Police quickly made their way to the scene and smashed a window. The baby was alert but was taken inside the gym for a check-up by paramedics as a precaution.
Temperatures reached a high of 30 C Thursday morning but inside a parked vehicle, the temperatures are higher.
The GTA was under a heat alert this past week, prompting experts to warn people about the grave danger of leaving small children and pets unattended inside vehicles.
