Cool down with the Town of Newmarket

In anticipation of the extreme heat and humidity forecasted this week, Newmarket staff have opened cooling stations for residents looking to escape the warm temperatures.

Residents are invited to go to the Magna Centre (800 Mulock Dr.) from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (100 Eagle St. W.) from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, the Newmarket Theatre (505 Pickering Cres.) from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or the Newmarket Public Library (438 Park Ave.) from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Residents can also beat the heat by visiting one of Newmarket’s public swimming pools, though regular swim fees apply. The town operates the Rogers Spray Pad at 170 London Rd. and the Gorman outdoor pool at 424 D'Arcy St. The pad is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and admission is free. Gorman is open Monday to Friday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Indoor pools are also available at Ray Twinney and Magna Centre.
