The city has slated 33 bus and streetcar routes for service improvement, part of already budgeted changes announced earlier this year.

Mayor John Tory and TTC chair Councillor Josh Colle made the announcement on which routes would see more frequent service on Monday morning at Finch station - where six bus routes will be improved.
It’s part of an effort to restore “deliberate” service cuts under former mayor Rob Ford's administration, Tory said.

“I want to point out that these service improvements are a reversal of the off-peak service cuts that were made under the previous administration,” said Tory, making a direct dig at Ford. “I think these are, simply put, the kind of sensible, rational, timely investments that people expect us to be making.”

The improvements, mostly for non-rush hour service, are part of $95 million already earmarked in the 2015 budget. They are also aimed at reducing crowding on existing routes, Colle said.

The announcement follows earlier improvements for all-day, every-day bus service and night buses.

The changes will begin in September.
