Markham is getting into the Pan Am spirit with a big new sign outside the civic centre.
The colourful VIVA PAN AM lettering is visible from Hwy. 7 near Town Centre Boulevard, just west of Warden Avenue.
Markham is an official host city of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Parapan Am Games. The Atos Markham Pan Am Centre will be the site for water polo, badminton and table tennis. Angus Glen Golf Club will be the venue for Pan Am golf.
On June 13, the city is hosting a Pan Am day, with free activities for all ages/abilities at community centres and
libraries.
You can take part in fun Pan Am/Parapan Am sport try-its and activities at Angus Glen, Armadale, Centennial, Cornell, Milliken Mills and Thornhill community centres.
On June 27, the Pan Am torch makes its way to Markham with a big torch celebration and ribfest that evening at the Markham Civic Centre.
A nine-day Pan Am festival takes place in July in Markham during the Games.
