Grabbing some street meat from a food truck used to be something you did because it was late and you’d had a few too many adult beverages to know any better.

Now, food trucks are found on virtually every big city corner and they serve up a whole lot more than hot dogs and sausages.

People will spend their whole lunch hour in a food truck line and there is even a television show dedicated to seeking out the best or most unique food trucks around North America. There’s even an App for that.

Festivals have also been dedicated to the food truck.

This feeding phenomenon hits Stouffville twice this year – June 18 and July 16 – with a Food Truck and Music Frenzy.

Main Street in downtown Stouffville will be closed between Market Street and Park Drive those two nights so food trucks can set up in the street. Some of the downtown merchants will also remain open.

It’s all about finding ways to attract people to downtown Stouffville, according to Anna Rose, downtown co-ordinator for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, of why it is hosting two food truck events this summer.

“It should be quite the buzz down there,” she said.

The number of trucks and what their food specialities are have yet to be determined, she said.

But rest assured, they will offer more than street meat.

The food being served out of these trucks now range from pizza to gourmet burgers, tacos and fancy grilled cheese sandwiches, lobster rolls and every ethnic cuisine you can think of.

The Food Truck and Music Frenzy will run both nights from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
