Ontario Supporting Vaughan’s 2015 Games Torch Relay Celebration
Festivities Planned for Historic Torch Relay

People in Vaughan can experience the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games up close and in person, when the Pan Am torch and the Parapan Am torch come to town.
Through Ontario’s Torch Relay Community Grant, the City of Vaughan has received $7,500 for Pan Am torch festivities on June 24th that will feature:
- performances by Jordan Mowat, Samba Squad, Women’s Hand Drum Singers, and Jerry and the Cardells;
- activities for children; and
- an appearance by PACHI, the official TORONTO 2015 mascot.
Supporting a memorable and successful 2015 Games is part of the government's plan to build Ontario up. The four-part plan includes investing in people's talents and skills, making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario's history, creating a dynamic, innovative environment where business thrives, and building a secure retirement savings plan.

QUICK FACTS
- Through Ontario’s Torch Relay Community Grant, funding is being provided to 67 communities, helping to spur community involvement and enthusiasm through local art, sport and music.
- The $750,000 Torch RelayCommunity Grant is part of Ontario’s $40 million strategy to ensure everyone in the province benefits from the 2015 Games.
- More than 3,000 torchbearers will be part of the Pam Am Games Torch Relay
- The Pan Am Games Torch Relay begins May 30 in Canada and continues through more than 130 communities across the country over 41 days.
- The Parapan Am Games Torch Relay route is completely in Ontario and is the largest ever with stops in 12 communities and 250 torchbearers carrying two flames that will unite at the Opening Ceremony on August 7.
- The TORONTO 2015 Games will showcase Ontario as a premier sporting destination, attracting 10,000 athletes and officials, 250,000 visitors, create 26,000 jobs and generate $3.7 billion for Ontario’s GDP.
