Contractor freed after trench collapses in Vaughan

A contractor has been freed from a trench which collapsed in Vaughan on Saturday afternoon, York region police confirm.

The incident happened at a home on a construction site on Worth Boulevard, in the area of Bathurst Street and Highway 407.

The man was trapped from the waist down but was conscious, breathing and in stable condition.

Police said he didn’t have any apparent injuries, but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified.
