No hot pets summer campaign kicks off

The Ontario SPCA launches its award-winning campaign to remind pet owners of the dangers of leaving pets unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer months.

The campaign was a great success in 2014 with public engagement at an all-time high.

The SPCA receives hundreds of reports of pets being left in cars every year. Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures despite mild weather, being parked in the shade and leaving the windows slightly open.

Citizens are being asked to share the message about the dangers of leaving pets in vehicles online using #nohotpets. Pet owners can also visit nohotpets.ca and pledge not to leave their pets in their vehicles and be rewarded with a No Hot Pets window decal.
