Hundreds of Bell customers in the Hwy. 7 and Creditstone area could be without phone, Internet and other services for the next couple of days.

Bell crews and construction crews are working “around the clock” to repair a temporary outage that is impacting phone, Internet, television services as well as debit and credit card transactions for area businesses, said Dale Albers, a spokesman for York Region Rapid Transit Corporation.

The local transit agency is doing work in the area to link the VivaNext bus rapidway to the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension.

The cause of the outage is still under investigation, Albers said.

“There was some utility relocations going on at the time (of the outage), but unconfirmed reports, at the moment, suggest as many as 500 businesses could be impacted,” he said.

Some customers will have their services restored later this afternoon with the remainder gradually being restored over the next two days.

VivaNext rapid transit representatives are visiting businesses and providing assistance where possible.
