If disaster strikes, will you and your family be ready?
York Region hosts an Emergency Preparedness Fair Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the York Region Administrative Centre.
In recognition of National Emergency Preparedness Week, May 3 to 9, the fair will feature fun and interactive exhibits and vehicles from York Regional Police, York Region Emergency Medical Services, local fire services, the Canadian Red Cross and St. John Ambulance.
This free event will help teach children and families about readying themselves for an emergency, including knowing the risks, making a plan and getting an emergency kit for an evacuation and taking shelter within the home.
The fair will also feature a barbecue, contests and giveaways, including copies of York Region’s new emergency preparedness guide. Donations in support of the Salvation Army will be accepted for the barbecue.
Bring the entire family Saturday to 17250 Yonge St., Newmarket.
