Former Vaughan Chamber of Commerce chairperson Brian Shifman has been appointed as the non-profit organization’s new president and chief executive officer.
The decision came after a “comprehensive executive search that fielded a wide variety of candidates from across Southwestern Ontario,” according to a press release issued last week.
Shifman previously served as executive director of Smart Commute - North Toronto, Vaughan.
He takes over the reins from Paula Curtis, who announced in February she was leaving the chamber, after two years at the helm, for a position at the Yonge Street Mission.
Shifman officially assumes his new position at the chamber May 12.
The Vaughan Chamber of Commerce promotes, advocates on behalf of and provides business development and networking support for more than 700 member businesses.
