York Region schools perform well in annual rankings
Markham, Richmond Hill schools lead way: Fraser Institute

York Region has some of Ontario’s best-performing schools in academic achievement, according to the annual ranking of schools by the Fraser Institute released Sunday.
Of the 749 high schools ranked in the province, Bayview Secondary School in Richmond Hill and Markville Secondary School in Markham tied for fourth with scores of 9.2.
Markville fortunes are rising as it was ranked 27th over the last five years.
Five York Region schools tied for ninth place with scores of 8.9: Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School in Markham, Unionville High School, St. Therese of Lisieux in Richmond Hill, Burl Oak Secondary School in Markham and Richmond Hill High School.
At the elementary level, Unionville’s St. Justin Martyr Catholic Elementary School tied for first along with 10 other schools among the province’s 3,037 schools.
Randall Public School in Markham placed 14th.
