Celebrate 115 years of Canadian Red Cross efforts in York Region at the Elman W. Campbell Museum in Newmarket.
In honour of Red Cross Month, the curtain will drop on a display featuring items from the organization’s history in the area March 5. The display will run until the end of the month.
“March is a time when we can all reflect upon the work done by the Red Cross in the region,” Region of York Red Cross branch council chairperson Beverly Verwey said. “We work diligently to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.”
The Newmarket chapter of the British Red Cross opened its doors to service the people of town in 1900. By 1986, the Newmarket, Woodbridge and Richmond Hill branches were amalgamated to become the Region of York branch.
