York Region approves 2015 budget

At its February 26 meeting, York Region council approved the 2015 budget of $2.7 billion, with a capital budget of $826 million and an operating budget of $1.9 billion. The budget includes a 2.97 per cent tax increase. However, the outlook for the remaining three years of council calls for lighter tax increases of 2.85 per cent in 2016, 2.69 per cent in 2017 and 2.35 per cent in 2018. The budget will invest more in transportation during this term of council than any other previous term.
