The application for the development of the Highland Gate lands is now officially in the Town of Aurora’s hands.
Highland Gate Developments Inc. has submitted its official, zoning and draft plan of subdivision applications to the town’s planning department, Aurora’s planning and development services director Marco Ramunno confirmed Monday.
“We will now be reviewing the submissions and circulating them to the appropriate departments and agencies,” he said.
The applications will be shared with and reviewed by York Region and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority along with a number of town departments to ensure the documents meet all the necessary requirements before being presented at a public meeting or to council members.
The application proposes a 184-lot subdivision that includes lands reserved for environmental protection, parkland and open space. It also proposes one high-density, mixed-use block and plots courses for several trails throughout the development.
Within six weeks of receiving the documents, the town is obligated to publish a public notice to let residents know the paperwork has been filed and is being reviewed.
Any member of the public is welcome to visit the planning department at town hall to review the applications, Ramunno said.
He expects a public meeting could be scheduled as early as May.
The town is also working toward putting information relating to the applications on its website, aurora.ca.
